2009

  •  Invited to co-ordinate the 2nd European sustainable food planning conference. Venue: University of Brighton, October 2010.
  • Invited to review book proposal by publisher EarthScan.
  • Invited expert to the first CLEAR Village Lab, hosted by the Institute of Advanced Architecture Barcelona 5th- 7th November 2009.The CLEAR village foundation is a Dutch non-profit foundation developing concepts for sustainable futures, aiming to create a replicable design methodology and planning framework. Bohn & Viljoen Architects are quoted in their first publication RECODE #01 DNA for 21st Century Dwelling. 
  • Reviewer for the Vienna Science and Technology Fund (WWTF) Wiener Wissenschafts-, Forschungs- und Technologiefonds , for their Art(s) and Sciences Call 2009. within the framework of the funding programme: “Social Sciences and Humanities in Vienna”
  •  Invited expert to London Assembly’s Planning and Housing Committee’s investigation into the role of the planning system in supporting commercial food growing in London, 8th June 2009.

2008

  • Advisor to Sustain / GLA group setting up GLA’s first Urban Agriculture Conference, 30th June 2008.
  • Member of the “One Brighton” Steering Group, Bioregional led group discussing “One Planet Living” strategies for Brighton.

2007 

  • London Architecture Festival (2008) Member of the urban farming planning group.

  • Building Research Establishment’s, Environment Division, Embodied Impacts and Environmental Profiles Team, request  masters thesis on the environmental impact of Low and Zero Energy Dwellings, for their research into zero carbon housing.

2006  

  • Advisor, with Katrin Bohn to the Urban Farming Commissioning team for DOTT 07 (A 10 year long Arts Council funded programme, Design of The Times, to develop and test methodologies for allowing communities to develop proposals for sustainable futures).

2005 ongoing  

  • Invited reviewer of book proposals submitted to the Architectural Press.

2002

  • Advisor to Greater London Authority working group developing the London Sustainability Plan (March).

2001

  • Jury member for the SHADE Architectural Design competition, funded by the European Commission and run by the UK Building Research Establishment (November).

  • Set up Urban Nature Conference, 29th June 2001 Run as part of Architecture Week. Topic, Urban Agriculture and landscape strategies for the Sustainable City. The first conference on this topic to be run in the U.K, bringing together leading researchers in the field (June).

2000   

  • Advisor on sustainability, member of group discussing future of health buildings for Future of Health Buildings  - Think Tank set up by the Medical Architecture Research Unit, South Bank University.

  • Advisor to RIBA Architecture Gallery - Urban Futures for London - Living City exhibition regarding urban agriculture and sustainable cities (February).

1999-2000   

  • Member of the Architectural Committee for World Renewable Energy Conference 2000, Brighton, July 2000.
