150th Anniversary News
In 2009 the Faculty of Arts and Architecture celebrates 150 years of art and design education in Brighton. Early in 2009 the series of celebratory activities included:
- Jan: publication of a book
Art and Design at Brighton 1859-2009: from Arts and Manufactures to the Creative and Cultural Industries
- Jan-Mar: mounting of an exhibition From Art School to University: Art and Design at Brighton 1859-2009 accompanied by a catalogue
- Feb: hosting a major international conference Art and Design Education for the 21st Century
We celebrate the exceptional range of individuals who have contributed to our 150 year history and who provide fascinating examples of the development of a creative educational institution and its contribution to society, culture and industry. Today, based on this rich history, we see a multi-disciplinary, international Faculty offering a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and research opportunities, one which is home to students and staff who will take the Faculty of Arts and Architecture into the future.
